1990sHow it started

Studied art and music. Invented a degree called “Digital Sound and Image” in the early days of digital. Released a few techno records, took commissions for creative coding and sound design, and entered the World Wide Web full-time around Y2K. Designed and built software at a startup through its exit.

2000–2026Where it went

Built and led an award-winning in-house creative studio at Boston University as ECD, got an MFA in design. After a decade, joined Upstatement and became Chief Design Officer. Grew the studio from 9 to 50 people, built a global team of designers who code, and lead the business through acquisition.

2027Where it’s going

I’ve never stopped designing or coding. Making is how I solve problems and, I believe, the only way to create something new. Leadership was always a way to have more say in what I made. These days, I’m interested in unfamiliar problems, creative technologies, and people with unreasonable ambitions.
